We are currently seeking a Psychiatric Assistant * In Person Position *
The psychiatric assistant will play a crucial role as part of the multidisciplinary team in the psychiatric
department by supporting the delivery of mental health services to the patients and their families. The Psychiatric
Assistant will provide Psychiatric Support Services (PSS) by assisting with the treatment process by streamlining
incoming and outgoing referrals and triage referrals by appropriately matching clients with specialty providers for
optimal patient care and service delivery. The Psychiatric Assistant will also assist in completing assessments,
documentation, and maintaining compliance with standards of care and ensuring regulatory standards are
maintained. The Psychiatric Assistant is instrumental in maintaining the smooth operation of our patient care
by ensuring that patients receive timely and effective treatment and providing support services to Psychiatrists and
other Mental Health Practitioners allowing them to focus more on patient care.
PROCESSING DUTIES
Referral Triage & Coordination
- Review and prioritize incoming referrals based on urgency and clinical information.
- Ensure patients are directed to the appropriate provider or service and receive timely communication regarding their care options (in-person or telehealth).
- Confirm all required documentation is complete and follow up on missing information, including court documents when applicable.
- Coordinate appointment details with internal programs and provide updates to all parties involved.
Collaboration & Reporting
- Partner with the Office Manager during bi-weekly case staffings to review cases, support compliance, and ensure accurate documentation.
- Assist with staff training, maintain internal referral logs, and identify unserved clients.
- Follow up with patients facing barriers to care, non-compliance, or repeated hospitalizations.
- Coordinate with the Front Office and clinical teams regarding transitions, referrals, and discharges.
- Communicate as needed with external partners such as insurance companies and community resources.
Patient Care Support & Monitoring
- Monitor patient mental health status and relay changes to the supervising psychiatrist or mental health practitioner.
- Assist with treatment planning, quarterly or semi-annual assessments, and updating documents in the EMR and Carisk systems.
- Complete functional assessments (CFARS/FARS, LOCUS/CLOCUS) according to required schedules.
- Support discharge planning by documenting plans, coordinating resources, and assisting with patient education.
- Document non-compliance, provide appropriate counseling, and follow procedures for collaborative or non-compliance discharges.

This is a Full-Time position.

Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent with 3-5 years direct care in mental health field - recommended
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or Mental Health – preferred
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) – required
